In November, a team from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) visited the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). The visit paved the way for further collaboration between the two universities, which will contribute to the integration of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs at the UBA in general, and the development of a strategic plan at the Faculty of Engineering in particular.
After several conversations held since December 2022, the Sustainability Directorate of the UPV/EHU, thanks to an ERAMUS+ grant, finally visited the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) this November. Founded in 1821, the Argentine university UBA is one of the largest universities in Latin America. It has produced four Nobel Prize winners and several presidents, and is widely respected in the region.
During a week of work, together with the team from the Quality Promotion Unit, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, a team of teachers from the Department of Safety, Hygiene and Environment and the person in charge of UBA Verde, the UPV/EHU shared its experience in the integration of sustainable development, and in particular the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, through the EHUagenda 2030 for sustainable development and the Panel of Sustainable Development indicators. The team of UPV/EHU also had the pleasure to give a master class on Environmental Management in the European Framework, incorporating the regulations and strategies of the European Commission, especially on climate change, to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 to the students of the Faculty of Engineering (FIUBA).
This meeting has opened a great window of opportunities for collaboration with the UBA and paved the way to agree on the roadmap for the integration of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs at the UBA, in general, and specifically, agree on a strategic plan at the Faculty of Engineering at the UBA.
