The UPV/EHU's Department of Sustainability and Social Commitment has launched a sustainable living challenge in order to involve the university community in the fight against climate change. The initiative has been developed together with The Planet App, a mobile application designed to reduce the individual carbon footprint.
The challenge addresses different topics related to sustainability based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. The main focus is on climate action (SDG 13) to support users in reducing their greenhouse gas emissions by acquiring more sustainable lifestyle habits. Further addressed goals are:
- Responsible consumption and environmental impact of products (SDG 12)
- Sustainable habits at home and on campus regarding energy (SDG 7)
- Sustainable transport, cities and communities (SDG 11)
- Food for climate change, health and well-being (SDG 3)
From February to July 2022, participants who are most committed to reducing their environmental impact will receive different kinds of prizes, all of them related to the preservation of our planet and our health.
