To accelerate the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in a decade of action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals and achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, UNESCO is launching the new global network of education stakeholders: ESD-Net 2030. The Network aims to create synergy among members and foster cross-sectoral collaboration to support the implementation of ESD nationally, regionally, and globally.
With the deadline Education 2030 Agenda approaching, it is crucial to accelerate the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to deliver all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. To support member states in implementing the UNESCO Framework for the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) beyond 2019 and its Roadmap, and to follow up on the Berlin Declaration on Education to Sustainable Development, UNESCO is establishing the new ESD for 2030 Global Network (ESD-Net 2030).
The network aims to become a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, mutual learning, advocacy and monitoring and evaluation among a wide range of stakeholders, including governmental agencies, civil society organizations, educators, youth, research institutions, UN partners, international development communities, among others.
To launch ESD-Net 2030 and its activities, UNESCO held an online webinar and workshop on 4 October 2022. The webinar showcased several member states’ efforts in developing and implementing ESD for 2030 Country Initiatives, followed by the first in a series of interactive workshops on ESD pedagogy.
