To support the ambitious Circular Economy Strategy action plan adopted by the European Union, the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Sustainable Product Management enabling a Circular Economy (CD-Lab) at the University of Graz acts as a creative space for developing and conducting research in sustainable product management, the results of which will support the transition toward a circular economy.

Two new papers recently got published:

The first one provides an overview of how digital technology applications are used for sustainable product management in a circular economy. The study explores how the internet of things, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology are used in practice and how potential application areas are described theoretically

Publication: "Application of digital technologies for sustainable product management in a circular economy: A review"

The second paper deals with digital battery passports to enable circular battery ecosystems in Europe. To bring a sustainability research-guided perspective to the table, the CD-Lab, spotlighted the information needs and requirements that digital battery passports have to fulfill in a recent paper.

Publication: "Digital battery passports to enable circular and sustainable value chains: Conceptualization and use cases"

Finally, one paper that was co-authored by the head of the CD-Lab, Prof. Rupert J. Baumgartner, together with Estephania Delgadillo Jaime, and Tatiana Reyes about territorial product-service systems was awarded as runner up best sustainable development article 2021 by the International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS).
