Membership Benefits

Membership of the COPERNICUS Alliance (CA) provides excellent networking and professional development opportunities for higher education institutions, agencies and related organisations working on building sustainable futures. It offers updates on sector developments, exchange in best practice examples, opportunities for funding and joint research. 

By becoming an institutional member, your faculty, staff and students can enjoy the many services and benefits available:

  • Professional development: The CA offers excellent opportunities for professional development in leadership and organisational change for sustainability. As a member you will receive a discount to participate in CA workshops and training sessions. Members have priority in attending webinars on ESD topics led by researchers and practitioners in the field.
  • Opportunities to inform and influence policy developments in international dialogues: The CA is engaged and participates in international gatherings and dialogues which influence higher education policy. Members are encouraged to contribute to these activities (e.g. observer status at UNESCO, UNECE, RIO+20 Conference, …).
  • Subscription to the CA Newsletter: As a member you will receive our CA Newsletter which includes key information about the latest developments and events regarding sustainability and higher education in Europe and beyond, and also highlights CA members’ news and achievements. Through the newsletter you can also promote your sustainability initiatives to an international audience.
  • Dissemination opportunities: Members can contribute to scientific and CA publications as well as share good practice in the area of sustainability in higher education.
  • Participation in conferences and seminars: Members are encouraged to participate in events where we can develop issues in the forefront of sustainability in higher education. The CA also assists in communicating and promoting events organised by its members (and other organisations) to the designated audience. As a member, you will also receive a discount for the CA Annual Conference, which combines the opportunity to present papers with dedicated time for informal networking and interactive idea-sharing.
  • Financial support: 20% of the CA annual budget is aside to fund members’ initiatives such as joint workshops, conference, publications etc.
  • Funding and research: As a member you will have the opportunity to participate in collaborative European research projects and joint bidding with other institutional members.
  • Governance opportunities: CA members can participate and be part of the CA Scientific Steering Committee, task forces and working groups with full voting rights and shape the development of the organisation.
  • Profiling your work at an international level: The CA publicises and celebrates institutional member achievements through a variety of communication tools, including the CA Newsletters and e-Bulletins, website and publications. Institutional members can also be featured in the monthly CA Newsletters as “members of the month” for their outstanding work on sustainability.

  • We are offering a special insitituional trial membership for first-time subscribers, which allows you to enjoy all the benefits of CA membership during a whole year.
  • Higher Education  associations, agencies and non-profit organisations located in Europe can become members and actively engage in the network’s activities for a reduced rate. These members have full voting rights and can enjoy from all the CA package of benefits and services.
  • University departments, individual researchers and students can join as observers for a reduced membership rate. This will give access to resources and communication platforms but there are no voting rights, funding or profiling opportunities associated with this status.
  • Partners from outside the European region can become international observers.
